This exciting new treatment does more than simply remove, “the bump”. Lapiplasty® addresses your bunion in three dimensions to correct the root of the problem.
Instead of cutting through the 1st metatarsal bone and shifting the head of your bone to correct a bunion, the patented Lapiplasty® 3D Bunion Correction uses specially designed instrumentation to accurately rotate the entire deviated bone back into its normal anatomical position. This will naturally straighten your big toe, and in the process, reduce the ‘bump’ and associated pain. Innovative titanium plating technology permanently secures the unstable foundation- which is often the root of your bunion problem.
Most patients are able to walk with a boot and crutches the day after surgery. Lapiplasty® is typically performed in an outpatient surgery center under monitored anesthesia (twilight sleep). A local anesthetic is also used to numb the foot. Patients usually return to work within a few days and hospitalization is not necessary.
