Michael L. Goddard, DPM

Dr. Goddard joined California Foot and Ankle Institute in 2012 after ten years of private practice. He was born in Orange, CA, and spent most of his younger years in Solvang, CA. Sports have been a significant part of his life and he developed an early passion for football and baseball. In high school, he played football and ran track (he is convinced the 400 meters is the greatest track event). Much of Dr. Goddard’s approach to patient care comes from the humble appreciation of concepts such as teamwork, dedication, and constant learning, which he attributes to a competitive sports foundation.

In college, Dr. Goddard started as an architecture major, but after his freshman year he knew his heart was in health care. He shifted to pre-medicine and never looked back.  He received his medical education at Kent State University/Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. He went on to complete his residency training in Los Angeles focusing on reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle. In addition to his surgical training based in Los Angeles, he was intricately involved in the Baja Project for Cripple Children, a medical and surgical mission which served children and young adults in Mexico, Honduras, and El Salvador. After completion of his residency, Dr. Goddard received additional training in nerve decompression and microsurgery of peripheral nerves at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Additionally, he is trained on Lapisplasty, a revolutionary 3D bunion correction.  Dr. Goddard has been in private practice for 19 years and he prides himself in making the extra effort to develop a strong doctor-patient relationship.

Dr Goddard lives in South Orange County with his wife and three children and spends most of his free time enjoying the outdoors with his family.
