Laser treatment for fungal nails typically takes several appointments in order to see full results. Session lengths, however, are relatively short. An entire treatment session, including preparation of the nail, application of the light, and buffing the nail, usually takes around 10-15 minutes to complete.
The number of treatments necessary may depend on the severity of the fungal infection, but some treatments have been deemed successful after just 4 weekly treatments. Once we have confirmed that the fungus has been eradicated, it will still take time for new, clear toenails to grow and fully replace the discolored nails. Most nails take about 12 months to be fully free of fungus, but steady improvement should be seen through this time.
The sooner laser treatment begins, the sooner results can start to be seen. Discus your options with the doctors at California Foot and Ankle Institute by calling our Irvine office at (949) 833-3406 or our Victorville office at (760) 951-2000. You can also reach us toll-free at (888) 796-6631.
